Purchasing Specialist
Matern Staffing is currently seeking a Purchasing Specialist for a food manufacturing facility located in Stafford, Virginia.
The Purchasing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of products and services within industrial manufacturing companies. They are responsible for selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing the supply chain to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials and components.
As a Purchasing Specialist, you will utilize your problem-solving skills and expertise in purchasing to plan and oversee the procurement of materials necessary for the daily operations of the plant. You will be tasked with ensuring efficient supply chain management and adherence to best practices. While some days may be challenging, you will find satisfaction in upholding the quality standards of the supply chain.
Salary:
- $50,000-$60,000/year

What You'll Do:
- Purchasing, Receiving, and Shipping
- Evaluate cost, specifications, and appearance of existing ingredients and packaging
- Generate purchase orders for ingredients, packaging, plant supplies, and special-order materials with low inventory levels, and coordinate with suppliers for timely deliveries
- Manage inventory, including conducting weekly and end-of-month physical counts and analyzing inventory data to identify discrepancies and propose solutions
- Maintain and update material and vendor master records, as well as items and work-in-progress (WIP) costs
- Input shipping/receiving data, forecast/actual orders, and physical inventory into the material control system
- Handle tasks related to material procurement risks and distressed materials/WIP items
- Communicate information about substitute materials to stakeholders
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Business Administration, or related field required; M.B.A. preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement or related field
- Proficiency in procurement software, MS Office software and tools
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Deep understanding of inventory and supply chain management
- Ability to interpret financial data to support production goals
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
